Overview
Suction cups on hands and feet let each StikBot figure from the Zing advent calendar grip windows, fridges and mirrors for filming. Behind each door is a character, accessory or collectible, and a phone app turns poses into stop-motion movies.
The calendar turns a daily surprise into a filmmaking project that lasts after the holidays. Kids need a phone or tablet for the app, and not every door holds a figure.
Who it's for
Young filmmakers and kids who like collecting figures get a countdown that leads to a project. Parents avoiding screens should note the app is central to the experience.
Pros and cons
- Figures stick to smooth surfaces
- Poseable articulated joints
- Free app with green screen effects
- Play continues past December
- App needs a phone or tablet
- Not every door holds a figure
- Small parts for young siblings
Performance notes
Suction cups hold figures on glass and glossy surfaces, so scenes can be staged vertically. The app captures one frame per pose and strings them into motion, adding green screen, voiceovers and sound effects.
