Overview
Rawlings makes this Select Series mitt for young catchers learning to receive and block. A leather shell and a cotton lining give a lighter feel, and the pattern is cut for youth hands behind the plate.
A ready-to-play break-in means a young catcher can use it quickly without weeks of shaping. The copy describes a deep pocket and an adjustable wrist area, though the specs give no web style or glove weight.
Who it's for
Young players learning receiving, framing and blocking are the target, particularly if the glove must be usable right away. Adults, and left-handed throwers, will need a different size and orientation.
Pros and cons
- Ready to play with no break-in
- Lightweight feel for young hands
- Leather shell with cotton lining
- Youth pattern sized for catchers
- Right hand throw only
- Glove weight not listed
- Web type not in the specs
- Copy text cuts off mid-sentence
Performance notes
A lighter mitt closes faster, which helps a young catcher receive pitches with control. Pocket depth and the wrist fit decide how well the glove holds position and secures the ball on impact. A softer, ready-to-play leather means less shaping but may soften further with use.
