Overview
A coat pocket on the train is the setting this color E Ink reader targets, running Android for books, audiobooks and light work on the go. A dual front light with cool and warm tones and a glare-free screen handle reading in dim or bright places.
Color E Ink plus a fast processor makes comics, highlighted notes and app browsing workable on a pocket device. Color renders at half the density of black text, and the small screen still cramps full-page PDFs.
Who it's for
Readers moving between novels, comics and audiobooks during a commute get color, apps and room for a large library. Students working through large PDF pages need a bigger panel than this pocket format offers.
Pros and cons
- Color Kaleido 3 E Ink panel
- Dimensity 1080 with 8 GB RAM
- 256 GB of storage
- Warm and cool front light
- Color at 150 PPI versus 300 in black
- 6 inch screen tight for PDFs
- Spec sheet lists only JPEG and PDF formats
- Charging cable not in listed contents
Performance notes
Responsiveness comes from the Dimensity chip and large RAM pool driving a high refresh mode on the E Ink panel. Text looks sharper than color images because the panel renders color at half the pixel density of black. Comfort in the dark depends on the dual front light, which shifts between cool and warm tones.
