Frequently asked questions

What are the most popular outdoor ovens brands?

Gozney, Solo Stove, Ooni, Pizzello, Sunflair lead this category among the 11 brands that passed our curation checks.

How does ProductDome pick these outdoor ovens?

A listing appears only when it has a recorded price, a minimum customer rating, and enough ratings or monthly sales. Generic and unbranded listings are left out, while every real brand stays, including brands sold only on Amazon. The ones that pass are ordered by how many people search for that brand and model each month; review counts only break ties.

About outdoor ovens

Outdoor ovens on this page are mainly portable pizza ovens fired by gas, wood, charcoal or wood pellets, and they reach much higher temperatures than kitchen ovens, cooking pizza in a minute or two. The first decision is the fuel, because gas ovens are the easiest to light and control, while wood and pellet ovens give a smoky flavour but need more practice.

Size and pizza size are the next questions. Among the 10 products that list size, most fall between 12 and 16 inches, and 14 inches is typical. A larger opening and stone take bigger pizzas and leave room to turn them, while compact ovens are easier to carry to a campsite or store over winter.

Heat and baking come next. A thick stone holds heat between pizzas, and a rotating stone or a burner along the side helps even cooking. An infrared thermometer is essential for checking the stone temperature. Many ovens also roast vegetables, sear steaks and bake bread.

Setup and safety matter. Place the oven on a stable, heat resistant surface away from walls and overhangs, keep children away from the hot shell, and check gas connections for leaks.

Before buying, check the fuel type, the pizza size, the oven weight, the stone thickness, the accessories included, such as a peel or cover, and whether it can convert between fuels. Let the oven preheat fully before baking, and practise turning pizzas with a peel. Covers protect the oven from rain and dust between uses, and a carry bag makes portable ovens easier to take camping. Gas models need a regulator and hose for your tank, which is usually included. Pizza dough rested at room temperature stretches more easily and bakes more evenly in the intense heat of these ovens. Keep the oven covered when cool.
