Brands like Schwinn and Huffy have been around long enough that you know what you’re getting—reliable, no-surprise geometry for park paths and driveways. Joystar and Glerc also show up heavily, often with training wheels and flashy extras that appeal to younger riders. The tradeoff is simple: spend more for lighter frames and better components that last through a second kid, or grab a solid $100 bike that does the job for now. Pay attention to wheel size (12 to 20 inches) and whether your child is ready for hand brakes versus coaster brakes. There’s no one “right” bike, just the right fit for your kid and your patience with assembly.
