Overview
A rotating five disc tray lets this player run through a stack of DVDs or CDs in order or at random, and you can swap four discs while the fifth plays on. It connects to the TV over RCA cables, which come in the box with a remote.
Loading a whole evening of discs or a party playlist at once is the reason to own a changer. Video stays at standard definition over analog cables, and the surround mode only simulates depth from two channels.
Who it's for
Older living room setups and party hosts playing mixed CDs get long play without getting up. Owners of new TVs without analog inputs should look at an HDMI player.
Pros and cons
- Holds five discs at once
- Swap discs while one plays
- Random play across all discs
- Plays burned MP3 and WMA discs
- No HDMI output
- Standard definition only
- Surround is simulated from two channels
- Short labor warranty
Performance notes
Picture quality is bound by standard definition DVD video over analog outputs. The changer mechanism adds a pause when moving between discs. Simulated surround widens stereo sound but does not create real rear channels.
