Overview
Not a pocket portable, the Wheelwriter 1500 is an office typewriter in the tradition of the IBM Selectric, with character storage, a dictionary and an envelope and label layout function. Forms completion speeds work on preprinted paperwork.
The forms function lines up text on overnight airbills, purchase orders and invoices, which is where a typewriter still earns a place in a busy office. The listing is short on included items and gives only a brief warranty.
Who it's for
A shipping desk or small office completing airbills and purchase orders will use the forms function and correction buffer. Home users wanting something small and light should look at a portable model.
Pros and cons
- Forms completion function
- Text storage and dictionary
- Envelope and label layout
- Several pitch choices
- Large and heavy
- Accessories not listed
- Short warranty term
Performance notes
Stored characters and a correction buffer let the machine fix mistakes before they reach the page, and the dictionary checks spellings. The forms completion function positions text on preprinted forms so entries line up with each field.
