Overview
A tuning key rather than rope turns the head of this Remo Mondo djembe, which follows traditional djembe tone and shape with modern tuning systems. The body is Acousticon, finished in an earth tone. Remo markets key-tuned djembes as user friendly.
The reason to buy is a tunable, portable hand drum with a traditional form and a durable shell. The limit is that the listing gives no head type, no warranty and no included items, and the shipping weight is not small.
Who it's for
Circle drummers and recreational players who want to adjust the head quickly will like the key tuning. A buyer wanting a lighter small drum or traditional rope tension should consider another type.
Pros and cons
- Durable Acousticon body
- Traditional djembe shape
- Portable by Remo's description
- Weight is not light
- Warranty listed as not applicable
- Head type not described
- Accessories not included
Performance notes
A key turns the tuning hardware to raise or lower the head, so pitch can be adjusted without ropes. The shell and head follow the traditional djembe form, which governs the tone. The listing does not describe the head material.
