Overview
A tape transport and a DVD drive share one silver chassis in this Sylvania combo, so tapes and discs play from a single unit with one remote. It records to VHS from the line input and has no TV tuner of its own.
Two decks in one chassis cut the cable clutter and remotes for anyone still holding tapes and discs. Without a tuner it cannot record broadcast TV on its own.
Who it's for
Families and collectors keeping home videos on tape alongside a DVD library. People needing to record broadcast shows directly or play Blu-ray should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Plays VHS and DVD in one box
- Records to tape from line in
- Single all in one remote
- Plays many media file formats
- No built in tuner
- Dimensions not listed
- Short labor warranty
Performance notes
Recording quality depends on the source feeding the line input, since there is no tuner to capture broadcasts directly. Tape playback is limited by the VHS format itself, so old tapes look soft even when sent over HDMI.
