Overview
Students stepping up to a full bass section get a lacquered red piano accordion in the Hohner Bravo, built from wood and metal and sold with a bag. The right hand plays a piano keyboard while the left works the bass buttons as the bellows move.
Hohner describes the Bravo series as rugged and versatile, with features once reserved for higher grade instruments, and the large bass section opens up a wide range of left hand accompaniment. Its weight is the limitation: wearing it for a long session asks a lot of the shoulders, and the treble key count and reed setup are not listed.
Who it's for
Made for a learner who has reached the point where a small bass section limits the pieces they can play. Small children and players with back or shoulder trouble should consider something lighter.
Pros and cons
- Large bass section for full accompaniment
- Piano keyboard on the treble side
- Wood and metal build
- Bag included for transport
- Heavy to wear for long sessions
- Treble key count not listed
- No straps named in the listing
- Warranty lasts only ninety days
Performance notes
Left hand accompaniment comes from the bass buttons, so a large set gives more chord choices under the fingers. Tone and volume depend on bellows control, and the wood body with metal fittings shapes how the reeds resonate.
