Overview
A wide open grille over two reed voices drives the sound of this Hohner Compadre, a three-row diatonic button accordion. An adjustable left-hand bass strap holds the bellows side steady, and a painted black plastic body makes up the shell.
Three rows give more notes than a single-row box, which helps a student grow into the instrument. The warranty is short, and the button layout is not broken out in detail.
Who it's for
Learners and hobby players who want a three-row button box with a carrying bag are the intended players. Anyone who needs keys rather than buttons, or a longer warranty, should look at other options.
Pros and cons
- Three rows of buttons
- Two voices per note
- Open grille boosts volume
- Adjustable bass strap
- Treble and bass button split not listed
- Only a limited 90 day warranty
Performance notes
Each button sounds two reeds at once, which thickens the tone. The open grille lets sound leave the treble side with less blocking. Bellows control depends on how snugly the adjustable bass strap holds the left hand.
