Overview
Not a graphing or programmable model, this Texas Instruments model is a basic scientific calculator for general math and science classes. It handles fractions, inverse functions and scientific notation on a single-line display with color-coded keys.
Color-grouped keys and a short learning curve make it easy for younger students to find functions quickly. The single-line display shows only the current entry, so checking a long expression means retyping it.
Who it's for
Students in general math, algebra, trigonometry and biology get a simple calculator with fraction support. Upper-level calculus or statistics students may need a graphing model.
Pros and cons
- Easy to learn
- Fraction support in standard format
- Color-coded function keys
- Single-line display only
- No graphing functions
- No warranty listed
Performance notes
Accuracy depends on entering steps in the right order, since the single-line display shows only the current number rather than the full expression. Fraction mode avoids decimal rounding on problems that expect exact answers.
