Overview
Home office desks are the natural spot for the Seagate GoFlex Desk, a desktop drive that stands upright or lies flat beside a computer. It connects through a swappable desktop adapter and comes with backup and encryption software.
Scheduled backups and encryption out of the box suit a desk-based computer that needs a reliable copy of its files. It is a desktop drive, not one to carry around, and the line is older.
Who it's for
Home office and family desktop users get steady backup with encryption. Students and travelers should choose a portable drive.
Pros and cons

Performance notes
Copy speed is limited by the spinning disk more than the USB connection. The interface adapter can be swapped for a different connection without replacing the drive. Encryption protects data if the drive is lost or stolen.
