Overview
Not a plastic seat, the Bemis 1500EC is molded wood with a cover and a closed front, coated in a high gloss finish that resists chips and scratches. Color-matched hinges lift off for cleaning, and the seat attaches with noncorrosive bolts and wing nuts.
Lift-off hinges let you remove the seat to clean the hinge area, then refit it. The glossy molded wood resists chipping and scratching for long use. Screen colors are approximate, so confirm the bowl shade before relying on a photo match.
Who it's for
Bathrooms with an elongated white bowl get a matching molded wood replacement with easy hinge cleaning. Owners of round bowls or anyone set on a soft-close lid should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Lift-off hinges for easy cleaning
- High gloss finish resists chips and scratches
- Noncorrosive bolts with wing nuts
- Color-matched hinges and bumpers
- Slow-close feature not listed
- Elongated shape only, no round version here
- Screen colors may not match your bowl
- Warranty limited to US and Canada
Performance notes
Fit depends on bowl shape: the seat is elongated, so it lines up only with elongated bowls. The molded wood core and glossy coat decide how it handles scratches over time. The lift-off hinges let grime under the hinge be reached instead of trapped.

Frequently asked questions
Will the Bemis 1500EC fit a round toilet bowl?
No. It is an elongated seat, made for elongated bowls.
Will Cotton White match my toilet exactly?
Bemis notes that website colors can vary from the actual seat because of monitor and printer settings, so the photo should not be used to match a bowl exactly.
