Overview
Aquarists stepping up from a hang on filter get a canister that goes under the stand and pushes water through three media trays. A priming pump starts it without siphoning, and a spray bar returns water along the surface.
Owners get flexible media choice and strong flow for tanks up to the mid sizes. Only pads come in the box, so carbon, ceramic rings or bio balls are extra, and the warranty is short.
Who it's for
Planted and community tank keepers who want to tailor filtration will use the trays. Beginners wanting a ready filled filter may prefer a kit version.
Pros and cons
- Three customizable media trays
- Spray bar for gentle return
- Valve disconnect eases cleaning
- Fresh or saltwater
- Media beyond pads sold separately
- Bulky under the stand
Performance notes
Filtration depends on the media you place in the three trays and on flow passing slowly enough for bacteria to work. The spray bar spreads return flow to avoid blasting fish. Maintenance is easier with the single valve disconnect.
