Overview
Not a bare canister, the SunSun Pro kit arrives with a built in UV sterilizer, filter pads, carbon, ceramic rings and bio balls. Load the three baskets, prime the pump, and the UV lamp helps clear green water from algae spores.
Owners get high flow, UV clarification and a full set of media in one box for large tanks. The UV lamp is excluded from the warranty and will need eventual replacement.
Who it's for
Keepers of large community or cichlid tanks battling cloudy or green water will use the UV. Nano tank owners should choose a smaller filter.
Pros and cons
- Built in UV sterilizer
- High flow for large tanks
- Three media baskets
- UV lamp not under warranty
- Short warranty overall
Performance notes
Clarity improves as the UV lamp exposes passing water to light that kills free floating algae and bacteria. Biological filtration depends on ceramic rings and bio balls colonizing over weeks. Flow must suit the tank so fish are not pushed around.
