PROSCAN Elite Portable CD Boombox with AM/FM Radio

Overview

PROSCAN builds this boombox around a top-loading CD mechanism, an AM/FM tuner and a bright LED display. Two stereo speakers face front, and an aux input lets a smartphone play through them.

Radio, discs and aux come in a retro case that carries between rooms. Its rated speaker output is small, and the listing mentions neither Bluetooth nor water resistance, which makes it a plain wired-input unit.

Who it's for

A household that still plays discs and listens to the radio, and wants a unit to move from desk to patio, will find the controls simple. Someone who wants Bluetooth, loud party output or splash protection should look at another type.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The two small speakers set the volume ceiling, so the unit fills a room but not a yard. The top-loading drive reads discs directly, while the aux input feeds a phone straight to the amplifier. Both the AC and DC operation named in the description give flexibility in where it can run, though the listing does not detail the DC source.
