Overview
A camping trip or a backyard game is the setting for these orange two-way radios, which come with a charging station, cable and adapter. A call tone, a flashlight and hands-free mode are listed.
The charging dock means no disposable batteries are needed for each trip, and the channel count helps avoid crosstalk. The specs mention D batteries while the box list names lithium batteries, so check what runs the radios.
Who it's for
Kids aged six to twelve on a trail or playing outdoors will use a pair of radios with a dock. Rain, long-range use through buildings or a phone replacement are not served.
Pros and cons
- Charging station included
- Flashlight on the radio
- Many channels reduce crosstalk
- Lightweight for kids
- Not water resistant
- Battery fields conflict
- Short 60 day warranty
- Range is a maximum
Performance notes
Range depends on open line of sight, since trees and walls cut FRS signals well below the maximum. The rechargeable cells run from the dock, so time between charges depends on how often the call tone and flashlight are used.
