Gaiam Classic Balance Ball Chair with Base

Overview

The Gaiam Classic Balance Ball Chair pairs a 52cm removable stability ball with a four-caster metal frame, letting it function as active seating at a desk. It includes an air pump and exercise guide and carries a 300 lb weight capacity.

This chair sits at the intersection of an exercise ball and a desk chair, aiming for the core-engaging micro-movements of ball sitting while keeping the stability of a frame and wheels underneath it. It's built around a fixed size range, so fit against a specific desk height matters more here than with a standard office chair.

• 52cm stability ball with removable design
• Four-caster metal frame, two casters lockable
• 300 lb weight capacity
• Includes air pump and exercise guide

Who it's for

Suits desk workers roughly 5 feet to 5'11" who want an active-sitting alternative at a standard-height desk. Taller users would need the separately sold leg extenders, and the setup is not a full ergonomic chair replacement for anyone needing back support or armrests.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The ball itself provides the active-sitting effect: sitting on an inflated, mobile surface prompts small stabilizing movements throughout the day rather than static sitting. The frame adds four caster wheels, two of them lockable, so the chair can roll like furniture when needed and lock in place for a stable seated position.
