Overview
The Samsonite manual luggage scale is a handheld analog hook scale rated to 80 lbs, used to check checked-bag weight before heading to the airport. It has a built-in tape measure and a grip handle with an adjustable strap.
Unlike digital luggage scales, this one has no battery to run down between trips, which several buyers point to as the main reason they chose it. It is compact at 5 x 1 x 6 inches, small enough to keep in a suitcase for the return trip too.
- Registers up to 80 lbs
- Comfort grip handle with adjustable strap
- Built-in tape measure
- Compact 5 x 1 x 6 inch size, no battery needed
Who it's for
Frequent flyers who want a permanent, no-battery way to check bag weight before a flight are the target buyer here, especially anyone guarding against overweight fees. It is not for shoppers who want a precise digital readout to the tenth of a pound.
Pros and cons
- No battery required, works indefinitely
- Compact enough to pack and reuse
- Comfort grip handle and adjustable strap
- Built-in tape measure included
- Analog dial, not a precise digital number
- One buyer felt the needle mechanism seemed flimsy
