Overview
Second focal plane construction keeps the MOA hashmark reticle a fixed size across the 3-9x40 zoom range, paired with exposed tactical turrets, a zero-reset feature, and nitrogen-purged waterproof sealing.
- 3-9x40 second focal plane with MOA hashmark reticle
- Exposed tactical turrets with a zero-reset feature
- XR fully multi-coated lenses, nitrogen purged and sealed
- Backed by a transferable lifetime VIP warranty
Who it's for
Fits hunters and range shooters wanting a durable, exposed-turret scope at a mid-range price point, including buyers directly comparing it to costlier Leupold or Nikon glass. Less suited to shooters who need a first focal plane reticle for holdovers that scale correctly at every magnification.
Pros and cons
- Held zero through repeated turret adjustment and a multi-day course
- Glass compared favorably to pricier Leupold and Nikon scopes
- Built tough enough to survive drops that damaged other scopes in the same class
Performance notes
Because the reticle sits on the second focal plane, its MOA markings hold their size regardless of zoom, which several owners appreciated for consistency but which also means holdovers apply correctly only at the calibrated power.

Frequently asked questions
Is the reticle on the first or second focal plane?
Second focal plane, so the reticle size stays fixed and its MOA markings apply correctly at the calibrated magnification.
How is low-light clarity?
Generally praised, though a couple of owners noted the image softens somewhat past 8x magnification as light fades toward dusk.
