Overview
Instinct Original Dry Cat Food coats standard kibble pellets in raw ingredients, sold here as a 10 pound salmon recipe bag from Nature's Variety. It's grain-free, gluten-free and labeled for all life stages, ranked number 44 in Dry Cat Food.
The raw-coated approach adds a raw ingredient layer onto conventional kibble rather than committing to a fully freeze-dried or frozen raw format, which keeps the price and shelf stability closer to standard dry food. The salmon recipe carries a high protein claim and no artificial colors, and it is positioned for general or indoor cat feeding across all life stages.
- Raw coated kibble pellets
- Grain-free salmon recipe
- All life stages
- 10 lb bag, no artificial colors
Who it's for
Cat owners who want some raw ingredient content without switching entirely away from kibble, and who are comfortable feeding grain-free across all life stages. Cats with fish sensitivities should look at a different protein source given the salmon base.
Pros and cons
- Grain-free, gluten-free and wheat-free recipe
- Raw ingredient coating on standard kibble
- 10 lb bag suits ongoing daily feeding
- No artificial colors

Performance notes
