Overview
Not a complete kit with stands and cymbals, the Yamaha Tour Custom is a four piece all maple shell pack built for touring and studio work. Inverse DynaHoops focus the maple tone, and isolated mounts let the toms ring longer.
Maple shells with sharp bearing edges give a warm, bright, projecting sound that suits nearly any genre. The mounting system adds sustain and dynamic range. A snare is not part of this four piece.
Who it's for
Gigging and recording drummers who want an all maple sound at a step below flagship kits. New players should look for a complete set with hardware.
Pros and cons
- All maple shells
- Hoops that tame overtones
- Isolated tom mounts for sustain
- Classic rock sizes
- No snare included
- Hardware not included
- Short one year warranty
Performance notes
Thin maple shells resonate freely for warmth and projection, and the inverse hoops trim excess overtones so the fundamental comes through. Mounts that barely touch the shell let toms sustain. Heads and tuning shape the final voice.
