Overview
Not a color printer, this Brother is a black-and-white laser with a flatbed glass for copying and scanning, and a manual slot that takes envelopes and card stock. Phones, tablets and laptops print to it wirelessly.
Quick duplex printing and a flatbed handle most paperwork, and the manual slot covers envelopes and heavier stock. Scanning is one page at a time, since no feeder is listed.
Who it's for
Households and small offices printing invoices, forms and school work, with an occasional copy. Teams scanning multi-page documents need a model with a feeder.
Pros and cons
- Automatic two-sided printing
- Flatbed copy and scan
- Manual feed for envelopes and card stock
- Wireless printing from mobile devices
- Black and white only
- No document feeder listed
- Low starter toner yield
Performance notes
Throughput comes from the laser engine and automatic duplexer, while the manual feed slot handles stiffer media that the main tray may not. Copies and scans run one page at a time on the glass.
