Overview
A desk worker or traveling musician who wants rhythm within reach gets this miniature box drum in birch. Internal snare wires add buzz when tapped, and a thin front plate responds to light finger rolls.
A scaled-down version of a full cajon, it gives spontaneous jam sessions a portable home. It is a tabletop novelty in size, so it will not replace a seated instrument for volume or low end.
Who it's for
Suits someone who wants a gift or a coffee table instrument that is easy to carry. Players who need a seated cajon for a band should look at a standard size.
Pros and cons
- Internal snare wires
- Birch front plate responds to light touch
- Very light and portable
- Too small to sit on
- Limited low end
- Only the cajon included
Performance notes
Thin birch plate responds to the lightest finger rolls, and the snare wires buzz against the plate to add crispness. The balance of bright highs and warm mids comes from the birch wood, a favorite for drum shell construction.
