Overview
A PlayStation on a TV stand with a full internal drive is the setup this Seagate Game Drive serves. It plugs into a console USB port, needs no power cable, and runs under the console's hard drive firmware as extra game storage.
Room for a large game library without juggling deletes is the whole point, and setup is plug and play. The listing gives two different game counts and only names the older PlayStation generation, so newer console use is not covered here.
Who it's for
Living room consoles and gamers who carry their library to a friend's house. Players chasing quicker loading should look at an SSD instead.
Pros and cons
- Plug and play setup
- No separate power cable
- Officially licensed for the console
- Compact and travel ready
- Mechanical drive, no speed gain
- Game count claims conflict
- Newer console support not listed
Performance notes
Games load from a mechanical hard disk over USB, so speed depends on the spinning platters and the console's USB port. Capacity governs how many titles fit, and the listing notes that available capacity may vary.
