Overview
A 20 inch by 1.5 inch band that snaps around a rolled yoga mat to hold it closed for carrying or storage, sold as a single strap rather than a full sling-style carrier.
This is a slap-bracelet style band, not a shoulder strap: it wraps around a rolled mat and holds itself shut with tension rather than a buckle.
- 20 inch by 1.5 inch single strap
- Slap-band style, closes without a buckle
- Fits most standard yoga mats
- Sold individually, not in a pack
Who it's for
Yoga students who already own a mat without a strap and want something faster than tying a cord. Not the right pick if your mat rolls thicker than about a quarter inch, since several buyers found the band barely closes.
Pros and cons
- Snaps shut in one motion, no buckle to adjust
- Keeps a rolled mat from unrolling in a bag
- Compact, doesn't add bulk like a full sling carrier
- Length may fall short for mats around 5mm or thicker
- Only available in one length
Performance notes
The band works by wrapping around the rolled mat and clasping onto itself, so there are no buckles to fumble with between classes.

Frequently asked questions
What size mats does the Gaiam Yoga Mat Strap Slap fit?
It's built for most standard yoga mats. Buyers with thicker mats around 5mm report the ends barely meet, so thin to mid-thickness mats fit best.
How does the Gaiam Strap Slap close?
It wraps around the rolled mat and clasps shut on itself, similar to a slap bracelet, with no buckle or velcro to adjust.
Is the Gaiam Yoga Mat Strap Slap sold as a pack?
No, it's sold as a single band measuring 20 inches long by 1.5 inches wide.
