Overview
Not a big dreadnought, the Alvarez Regent folk guitar has a smaller OM style body that rests comfortably on the lap. A spruce top over mahogany with scalloped bracing gives a balanced acoustic voice.
A comfortable size and a gig bag make it a ready to go first guitar. There is no pickup, and back wood details conflict in the listing, so check before buying.
Who it's for
Suited to students, casual strummers and fingerpickers who prefer a smaller body. Performers needing amplification should look at an acoustic electric.
Pros and cons
- Comfortable folk body
- Gig bag included
- D'Addario strings fitted
- Back wood conflicts in listing
- Scale length not given
Performance notes
Scalloped bracing lets the spruce top move more freely, which adds volume for its size. A folk body favors clarity over deep bass. Synthetic bone nut and saddle carry string energy cleanly to the top.
