Overview
The SF fly leader set bundles four monofilament nylon tippet spools, in 3X, 4X, 5X and 6X diameters, each 30 meters, about 33 yards, mounted on a dispenser stand.
The four X-ratings cover a range of tippet diameters in one set rather than a single breaking strength, letting a fly angler match tippet to fly size without buying separate spools. The line weight figure in the spec data likely refers to a breaking-strength reference rather than fly rod weight, so match spool to the X-rating you need.
- 3X, 4X, 5X, 6X tippet set
- Nylon monofilament
- 30m (33 yds) per spool
- Includes dispenser stand
Who it's for
Fly anglers who want a range of tippet diameters in one dispenser rather than buying single spools. Not for anglers needing a single dedicated leader length beyond 33 yards per spool.
Pros and cons
- Four tippet sizes in one set
- Dispenser stand keeps spools organized
- 30m/33yd length per spool
- Nylon is more visible underwater than fluorocarbon
- Fixed spool length may run short on long leaders
Performance notes
Monofilament nylon tippet is more abrasion-resistant and easier to knot than fluorocarbon, though it's more visible underwater and stretches more, tradeoffs typical of nylon leader material regardless of brand.
