Overview
Instant Pot makes this silicone steamer basket for its six and eight quart pressure cookers. Raised feet lift food above the boiling water, and secure-lock handles tuck under the lid during cooking.
A basket made by the cooker brand for its own pots is the reason to buy, and the folding handles make storage easier. The limitation is fit, since the listing only names two cooker sizes and gives one diameter figure.
Who it's for
Instant Pot owners who steam vegetables, fish and similar foods get a flexible silicone basket with handles for lifting out food. Cooks with other cooker sizes or brands should confirm fit first.
Pros and cons
- Official Instant Pot accessory
- Raised feet protect food from water
- Handles fold in and snap into feet
- Pleated design flexes to the pot
- Listed for two cooker sizes only
- Flexible silicone is less rigid than metal
- Warranty terms are vague
Performance notes
The feet lift the food clear of the liquid, so steam does the cooking and overcooking is less likely. The pleated silicone flexes to the cooker, and the handles lock under the lid while cooking and fold in afterward. Heat resistance is given as a temperature limit for the silicone.
