Our verdict

A waterless foam option for cats that tolerate bathing poorly, built for spot cleaning rather than a full wet wash.

Overview

Mooncat is a no-rinse foam shampoo for cats, sold as a 5 fluid ounce bottle meant for short-haired cats, seniors, and kittens. The formula is built around plant-derived coconut cleansers rather than water and towel-rinsed suds.

The application is pump, massage, towel dry, with no rinsing step, which the brand positions as gentler for cats sensitive to bathing. The formula is alcohol, dye, paraben, soap, and sulfate free, and the listing describes it as safe if licked.

5 fl oz no-rinse foam
For short-haired cats, seniors and kittens
Alcohol, dye, paraben and sulfate free
Pump, massage, towel dry application

Who it's for

Owners of short-haired cats, senior cats, or kittens who need a low-stress way to clean fur between baths. Less relevant for long-haired breeds needing detangling work a foam alone will not handle.

Pros and cons

Pros

No rinsing required
Formulated for sensitive or senior skin
Alcohol, dye, and sulfate free

Cons

Small 5 fl oz bottle
Not marketed for long-haired coats

Performance notes

The foam is worked into the coat by hand and lifted away with a towel instead of being rinsed out, which is the entire mechanism behind the no-water claim. Its plant-based, sulfate-free formula is pH-balanced for cat skin rather than reformulated human shampoo.
