Overview
Not a pump or a bottle filter, the Thru-Link clicks into a hydration hose so you filter as you sip. A hollow fiber membrane traps bacteria and protozoa, and carbon improves taste.
Drinking on the move without stopping to treat water suits fast hikers and trail runners. Filter life and virus protection are not stated.
Who it's for
Thru hikers, trail runners and fastpackers using hydration packs suit this filter. People treating water where viruses are a concern need a purifier.
Pros and cons
- Filters while you drink
- Carbon improves taste
- Works as a gravity filter
- Adapters for most reservoirs
- Virus removal not claimed
- Filter life not listed
- Sip effort rises as it clogs
Performance notes
Hollow fiber pores block bacteria and protozoa as water is pulled through, while carbon adsorbs odors and taste. Flow falls as sediment builds, which affects sipping effort. Gravity mode uses the reservoir's height for hands free treatment.
