Overview
SanDisk builds the Ultra Dual Drive Luxe as an all-metal flash drive with a reversible USB-C plug on one end and a standard USB-A plug on the other. A swivel cover protects the connectors.
Moving photos between a USB-C phone and an older USB-A computer takes one small drive, and the Memory Zone app can back up the phone automatically. Speed claims in the listing disagree, so treat the headline read figure with caution.
Who it's for
Suited to students and travelers moving files between phones, tablets and older computers. Phones without OTG support cannot read it.
Pros and cons
- Both USB-C and USB-A plugs
- All-metal swivel housing
- Keyring hole for carrying
- Automatic phone photo backup
- Listed read speeds conflict
- Phone must support OTG
- Memory Zone app download required
Performance notes
Real speed depends on the host port and phone, and the listing notes the drive needs a fast USB Type-C port for rated performance. Write speeds run lower than reads and vary by capacity.
