Overview
A drummer building a full maple kit gets five Concept Maple shells from PDP, including a snare with a DW MAG throw-off. Rack toms hang on Suspension Tom Mounts, the floor tom stands on steel legs, and True Pitch tension rods hold Remo heads across the set.
DW design features in a shell pack that includes a snare make this a complete drum set minus hardware. Expect to add stands, a pedal and cymbals, and note the heavy listed weight.
Who it's for
Gigging and practice drummers stepping up from a starter set get a five-piece maple configuration with a matching snare. Beginners without hardware face extra buying before the first beat.
Pros and cons
- Matching maple snare in the pack
- Suspension mounts let toms resonate
- DW MAG throw-off on the snare
- True Pitch rods for fine tuning
- No stands, pedal or cymbals
- Heavy to move between gigs
- Tom holder hardware not listed
Performance notes
Suspension mounts hold the rack toms without drilling into the shells, so they ring longer. Thin maple toms and kick give a warm, even tone, while the thicker snare shell adds crack and projection.
