Overview
Heat-activated ZINK paper does the work inside this Kodak Step, so there are no ink cartridges. A phone pairs by Bluetooth or NFC, and the KODAK app adds filters, stickers and frames. Five sticker frames are included.
Quick phone-to-print sharing and no ink are the reason to buy it for trips, parties and scrapbooks. The limit is the small print size and the modest resolution, which suit snapshots more than detailed photos.
Who it's for
Phone photographers who like to give out or stick up small prints will use the pairing and app. It is the wrong choice for large prints, office documents or detailed work.
Pros and cons
- No ink cartridges needed
- Pairs by Bluetooth or NFC
- Peel and stick photos
- App with filters and frames
- Small print size only
- Requires special paper
Performance notes
The paper carries color crystals that heat activates, which is why no ink is needed. A protective coating on the print helps against smudges and water. The listed print time is under a minute, and resolution is capped at the paper and printer limit.
