Overview
Marantz built this receiver to anchor a large home theater, powering a multi-channel speaker layout with height speakers for immersive audio and passing the highest resolution video to the TV. HEOS adds whole-home music streaming, and Alexa or Google Assistant handle voice control.
Enough channels for a large immersive layout plus streaming and voice control make it a single hub for movies and music. The specs list very few HDMI ports, which seems low for this class, so verify before planning connections.
Who it's for
Home theater enthusiasts with many speakers get a powerful hub for immersive audio and streaming. Apartment dwellers with a simple stereo pair need far less receiver.
Pros and cons
- Many channels for immersive setups
- Supports the latest video resolution
- HEOS multi-room streaming
- Alexa and Google Assistant
- Listing details very thin
- HDMI count unclear
Performance notes
Built-in amplification drives a full immersive layout, and processing places sound above and around the seats. eARC brings lossless audio back from the TV over HDMI. HEOS streams music services across rooms.
