Overview
RIO's FBA-02-6-6-22453 is a fluorocarbon fly leader set covering 4X, 5X and 6X, rated to 5.2 pounds and finished clear for low visibility, with three leaders included in the pack.
Fluorocarbon sinks faster and refracts light closer to water than nylon, which matters most on clear, pressured water where trout get a good look at the leader. Bundling 4X, 5X and 6X together covers a common progression from small nymphs down to fine dry fly tippets without needing to buy three separate spools.
- 3 leaders per pack
- Sizes 4X, 5X, 6X included
- 5.2 lb rating
- Clear fluorocarbon
Who it's for
Fly anglers targeting trout or similar species on clear water who want a small assortment of light leaders on hand. Not suited to anglers who need heavier leaders for larger species.
Pros and cons
- Fluorocarbon sinks faster, less visible in water
- Covers 4X, 5X and 6X in one pack
- Three leaders included
- Rated to 5.2 lb, light for larger fish
Performance notes
Fluorocarbon's lower visibility and faster sink rate help a fly presentation look natural in clear water, and the 4X-6X range spans a typical progression from small nymphs to fine dry fly work. The 5.2 pound rating sits at the lighter end, appropriate for that size range but not built for larger fish.
