Overview
Not a sitar, despite the category label, this is a Persian setar with a mulberry top and a walnut back and body. Four nylon strings run over the neck, and the surface is left unfinished.
The reason to look at it is the traditional Persian build and the accessories, a carrying case and a spare set included. The limitation is thin detail, as size, weight and tuning are not given.
Who it's for
Musicians exploring Persian string music will find the setar basics covered. Buyers who need exact measurements, or who want a sitar, should look at another listing.
Pros and cons
- Walnut back and body
- Soft case included
- Extra strings included
- Dimensions and weight absent
- Tuning not described
Performance notes
The mulberry top is the vibrating plate, and the walnut body shapes the projection. Nylon strings give a soft, gentle attack. The listing does not describe the frets or tuning, so those are for the player to set.
