Overview
Not a full steamer pot, this Cuisinart CTG-00-SS is a collapsible stainless steel basket that fits inside a pot you already own. Silicone feet and an expandable handle make it easy to lift out.
Fitting different pot sizes and folding flat are the reason to buy, and steaming is described as preserving flavor and nutrients. The limitation is scope: it is just the basket, with no pot, lid or accessories listed.
Who it's for
Home cooks steaming vegetables or fish in a pot they already have get a basket that expands to fit it. Cooks needing a pot, lid and tiered design should look at a full steamer set.
Pros and cons
- Adjusts to different pot sizes
- Folds flat for storage
- Basket only, no pot or lid
- Dimensions beyond width not listed
- Listed weight is unreliable
Performance notes
The basket opens like a flower to rest on the pot's rim or base, and silicone feet lift the food above the water so steam does the cooking. The handle expands for lifting and folds down, and the whole basket collapses and its feet fold for storage.
