Overview
Not a basic laptop camera, the Dell UltraSharp webcam uses a Sony STARVIS sensor and onboard image processing to hold detail in harsh or dim light. It attaches with a separate aluminum mount, and AI auto framing centers you in the shot.
Image quality is the focus: HDR processing and a sensor that gathers more light help faces stay clear against bright windows. No microphone is listed, so you still need a headset or a separate mic for calls.
Who it's for
Suited to home offices with tricky window light and professionals on daily video meetings. Callers without a headset or desk mic will need to add one.
Pros and cons
- HDR handles bright backgrounds
- Sensor gathers more light
- Selectable field of view
- AI framing follows you
- No microphone listed
- Zoom is digital only
- USB-A cable end may need an adapter
Performance notes
Low-light and backlit results depend on the Sony STARVIS sensor and the digital overlap HDR processing, which blend exposures to hold faces and windows at once. Digital zoom crops the sensor, so tighter framing loses detail.
