Overview
The AGM Rattler TS25-256 is a thermal riflescope with a 25mm lens, 256x192 core resolution, and a quick-release mount that also works as a handheld monocular. It suits hunters scanning for coyotes, hogs, or other night-active game rather than long-range precision shooting.
The recurring frustration is the digital zoom: more than one reviewer describes reticle shift or point of impact changes when moving past the base magnification, and several call the printed manual weak on zeroing instructions.
- 256x192 core resolution, 12um pixel pitch
- 0.39-inch OLED display, 8x digital zoom
- Video recording with 16GB built-in storage
- Waterproof, shockproof housing
Who it's for
Fits a hunter buying a first thermal optic for predator or hog control at moderate range, especially one who wants the quick-detach mount so the same unit can double as a handheld scanner. Less suited to shooters who need precise zero retention across the full digital zoom range.
Pros and cons
- Quick-release mount doubles as handheld monocular
- Effective coyote and hog detection at night
- Clear image quality for an entry level unit
- Rechargeable battery is easy to swap
- Zeroing instructions in the manual are unclear
- Point of impact can shift at higher digital zoom
- Menu and setup feel complicated to some users
Performance notes
The scope pairs a 12um pixel pitch detector with Adaptive AGC, DDE, and 3D DNR processing to sharpen thermal contrast, displaying the image on a 0.39-inch OLED panel with up to 8x digital zoom.

Frequently asked questions
Does the AGM Rattler TS25-256 hold zero across its zoom range?
One reviewer reported point of impact shifting when zooming past the base magnification, so it is worth confirming zero at the power level you plan to hunt with.
Can the scope be used as a handheld monocular?
Yes, the quick-release mount lets you detach it from a rifle and use it separately to scan for game.
