Overview
Not a bulky, heavy hunting rig, the Excalibur Mag Air is a compact crossbow built on a synthetic mainframe to save weight. A rope cocking aid cuts felt draw weight, and a fixed power, fog-proof scope comes mounted in rings for low light shots.
Low carry weight and an easy cocking aid make it a fit for youth, smaller shooters and long walks to the stand. Arrow speed is not listed, and the fixed power scope gives no zoom for longer shots.
Who it's for
New, younger or smaller hunters who walk far to their stands get a light, easy to cock bow. Long range shooters chasing top speed should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Light to carry all day
- Rope cocking aid reduces effort
- Arrows, quiver and points included
- Fog-proof scope with rings
- Arrow speed not listed
- Fixed power scope, no zoom
- Listed item weight looks wrong
Performance notes
Draw weight and limb design set arrow energy, while the rope aid reduces the felt effort of cocking and decocking. The light synthetic frame makes it easy to hold steady from a stand but gives less mass to damp vibration. A fixed power scope gives a bright image in low light.
