Overview
On flatwater, lakes and calm rivers, the Aqua Bound Sting Ray pairs a carbon shaft with carbon-reinforced nylon dihedral blades. The Versa-Lok ferrule joins the two halves and lets paddlers adjust length and feathering.
A touring or recreational paddler gets a light shaft with smooth, flutter-free strokes from the dihedral blades. The limitation is scope: the description centers on calm water, and no weight figure is given.
Who it's for
An adult who paddles lakes or calm rivers and wants to adjust length and angle for different boats and wind. Whitewater paddlers and anyone who wants a published weight should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Carbon shaft reduces fatigue
- Dihedral blades for smooth strokes
- Length and feathering adjustable
- Breaks down for transport
- Weight not listed
- Calm water focus
Performance notes
The dihedral blade shape tracks cleanly through the stroke instead of fluttering, and the ovalized carbon shaft cuts weight and fatigue on long outings. The ferrule sets feathering angle and length, so it can be tuned to the kayak and the wind.
