Overview
The Retevis RB48 is a rugged FRS walkie talkie tested to MIL-STD-810H, with an IP67 waterproof and floating body, dual PTT buttons, a vibration alert, NOAA weather channels and a rechargeable 2000mAh battery rated for 20 hours, sold as a 2 pack.
This is Retevis's outdoor-duty radio rather than an office set: the high-visibility yellow housing, 1000 tested 2-meter drops and floating IP67 shell target job sites and emergency-prep use over the earpiece-and-charger-station approach of the RT68.
- IP67 waterproof and floating design
- 1000 tested 2-meter drops
- USB-C rechargeable, 20 hour battery
- High-visibility yellow housing
Who it's for
Outdoor workers, boaters and emergency-prep buyers who need a radio that survives drops, dust and water. Less suited to a large indoor team, since it ships as a 2 pack rather than a fleet-sized set.
Pros and cons
- MIL-STD-810H tested and IP67 waterproof, floats if dropped
- 2000mAh battery rated for 20 hours, USB-C charging
- NOAA weather channel access
- Dual PTT buttons and vibration alert for noisy or gloved use
- Sold as a 2 pack, not suited to larger teams without buying multiples
- Stated 300,000 sq ft range assumes open line-of-sight conditions
Performance notes
MIL-STD-810H testing plus an IP67 rating cover drops, dust, heat, cold and water, and Retevis states the radio passed 1000 drops from 2 meters and floats if dropped in water. The claimed 300,000 sq ft or 25 floor range applies to open line-of-sight conditions, and dual PTT buttons plus a vibration alert are built for use with gloves or in noisy environments where a beep might be missed.
