Overview
A corded, two-speed detachable-blade clipper from Andis built for grooming dogs across coat types and breeds. It suits home groomers and professionals who want a plug-in clipper rather than a battery-powered one, paired with Andis UltraEdge blades.
Being corded rather than cordless, it trades portability for a motor that does not lose power as a battery drains, which matters for longer grooming sessions on heavier coats. The detachable blade system means blades can be swapped for different coat lengths without buying a whole new clipper. Andis positions this as professional grade, and the UltraEdge blade material is the same line used across its higher-end clippers.
- Andis 12845 two-speed clipper
- Detachable UltraEdge blade
- Corded electric power
- Suited to all coat types and breeds
Who it's for
Owners or groomers working through thicker or longer coats where a corded clipper's steady power output matters more than cordless convenience. Less suited to those who need to move around a dog freely without a cord in the way.
Pros and cons
- Two-speed motor for different coat types
- Detachable UltraEdge blade system
- Consistent power since it is corded
- Corded design limits mobility around the dog
- Requires buying separate blades for different coat lengths
Performance notes
The two-speed motor and detachable UltraEdge blade let the clipper handle a range of coat types by swapping blades rather than adjusting a single fixed blade. Being corded, power output stays consistent through a full grooming session instead of tapering off as a battery drains.
