Overview
A front entry that sees heavy daily use is where this Kwikset matte black deadbolt belongs. A key locks it outside, a turn piece inside, and the SmartKey cylinder lets you rekey it yourself.
Top-grade certification plus rekeying makes it a strong choice for main entries and rentals. It is a plain keyed lock, so code or phone entry needs a different product.
Who it's for
Landlords changing tenants and families with heavy door traffic get strength and quick rekeying. Shoppers wanting smart entry will need an electronic lock.
Pros and cons
- Highest BHMA grade
- Three faceplates for different doors
- No keyless entry
- Only two keys included
- Round style only in this listing
Performance notes
Strength under force comes from the certified bolt and housing, but a short strike screw in a soft frame still limits it. SmartKey replaces standard pins, which is what resists bumping and lock manipulation.
