Overview
Mounting in a UTV, Jeep or work truck is what this Rugged Radios unit is made for, with a small body that fits tight dashboards. It talks to any GMRS radio, supports repeaters and holds the hand mic on a magnetic mount.
Waterproofing and a small footprint make it a fit for open vehicles that see mud and rain. The antenna is not described, so total range depends on what you mount.
Who it's for
Side-by-sides, overland rigs and work fleets on GMRS suit this radio. Hikers and pedestrians need a handheld instead.
Pros and cons
- Strong transmit power
- Magnetic hand mic
- Antenna not described
- Range claim depends on setup
- Power figures vary in listing
Performance notes
Talk range comes from transmit power, antenna height and terrain, and repeaters stretch it further. The sealed housing tolerates water and dust in open cabs. The magnetic mic stays put over rough trails.
