Overview
Office workers with cramped desks or sore wrists get a thumb-operated trackball that moves the cursor while the hand rests in one place. A hinge tilts it to a more natural angle, and it pairs with up to three devices over Bluetooth or a USB receiver.
ProtoArc adds an adjustable tilt, multi-device switching and quiet main clicks to a rechargeable trackball. Expect a short adjustment period, and the ball and rollers need occasional cleaning to stay smooth.
Who it's for
Right-handed users who work long hours, use a couch or bed setup, or have little desk room benefit from the stationary design. Left-handed users need a different model.
Pros and cons
- Adjustable tilt angle
- Switches between three devices
- Quiet main clicks
- Needs little desk space
- Ball and rollers need cleaning
- Learning curve at first
Performance notes
Cursor movement comes from rolling the ball with the thumb, so the arm stays still and desk space needs are minimal. DPI steps tune cursor speed, and dust on the ball and its rollers reduces smoothness until cleaned.
