Overview
A listener who still owns cassettes and burned discs gets a stereo boombox with a CD tray, a tape deck and a radio in one case. Two speakers detach from the main body, and an AUX jack takes phones and MP3 players.
The reason to buy is a full set of old-school formats, including tape recording through the built-in microphone, in a retro blue case. The limit is the weight and the lack of any wireless streaming in the listing.
Who it's for
Fans of retro audio who play discs, tapes and radio from one shelf unit will use every feature. Anyone who streams from a phone wirelessly or carries gear often should look at a smaller speaker.
Pros and cons
- Plays CDs and records to tape
- Speakers detach from the body
- AC or battery power
- AUX input for phones
- Heavy and large
- Batteries not included
- Bluetooth not listed
Performance notes
Detachable speakers can be spaced apart for wider stereo than a single fixed case gives. X-BASS boosts low frequencies electronically, which adds weight to the sound but can blur at high volume. Tape and disc quality depends on the media you play.
