Overview
Not a soundbar under the TV, the Sony BRAVIA Theater Quad spreads four wireless speakers around the room and calibrates itself to create a wide sound field. HDMI pass-through supports high frame rate gaming, and the box has both stands and wall brackets.
Real speakers around the seats, plus automatic calibration, give a convincing surround field without wiring a receiver. The bundle text conflicts on plan length, and there is no subwoofer in this kit.
Who it's for
Film fans and console players who want surround without a receiver and speaker wire get a tidy setup. Bass lovers should budget for a separate subwoofer.
Pros and cons
- Four speakers around the seats
- Automatic room calibration
- Dolby Atmos and IMAX Enhanced
- HDMI gaming pass-through
- No subwoofer in this bundle
- Plan length stated two ways
- Each speaker needs power
- Accessory bundle contents not detailed
Performance notes
Surround placement comes from Sound Mapping, which measures speaker positions and builds a sound field between them. Video quality is untouched because the system passes high frame rate and HDR signals through to the TV.
